Description
Spanish Renaissance Style Door: 16th Century Iron Studded Castle Door
Hand crafted in the same materials and original craft by ArtFactory.com. Recreating history for the 21st century - Built from 1563-1584, the complex of buildings that make up El Esorail are considered an exemplary example of the Spanish Renaissance style and the site was named a UNESCO site in 1984. King Philip II of Spain commissioned this enormous work to be a tomb for his father, Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, a monastery for the Hieronymite order of monks, and the royal palace.
King Philip II named Juan Bautista de Toledo the royal architect for the project. Juan had previously studied under Michelangelo and had worked on the basilica of St. Peter's in Rome. Though he died before the project was completed, his apprentice Juan de Herrera saw the project through to the end, this is considered to be his major work. The complex of El Esorail ushered in the Renaissance period in Spain.
Iron Clavos Studded Door Inspired By The Monastery At El Escorail, Spain
This castle inspired custom wooden door takes its inspiration from the monastery at El Esorail. Using 4" thick cedar cypress wood, these doors are studded with hundreds of hand forged iron clavos to give the look and feel of Renaissance doors, and the wrought iron slide locks on the stationary door add to their security. Once the custom ring pulls and lock plates are added, you have a 16th century work of art on your doorstep. Call us at ArtFactory.com and add a piece of custom art to your home with a handcrafted entrance door made-to-order just for you.
