Historical Origin And Design Inspiration

Jehay-Bodgegnee Castle is surrounded by thick plush greenery that translates into wanting to be shielded. Protected by many moates and bridges prevented unwanted guests from reaching the Castle. Today, most of the structure dates back to the 16th century with some vaulted basements remaining from the 13th century. In the 19th century famous architect Alphonse Balat renovated the Castle in full and added extensions within the Castle and on the grounds. In 1999, the Castle was acquired by the province of Liege.
