Wood Doors with Custom Herringbone Design
Custom Door Inspired By A 12th Century German Castle
A full herringbone castle wall door at Greifenstein Castle in Germany inspired the herringbone pattern seen on the bottom panel of this solid wood door. The castle was built in the 12th century, destroyed and rebuilt in the 13th century, fell into disrepair and was brought back to life with a baroque conversion in 1676 by William Maurice of Solms-Greifenstein. Unfortunately, when the family left in 1696, the castle again fell to ruin. Since that time, the castle has slowly been restored by the Greifenstein Society, and is well known for the bell museum on site.
Inspiration for your custom made doors can come from anywhere. If you find something online, in a store, or in a historic building or castle, ArtFactory.com can take that idea and build on it to create a unique door or furnishing for your home. With this door, the herringbone pattern was only a starting point. Hand carved decorative trim was added as well as a hand forged, wrought iron door pull. So talk to our designers about your ideas for a new door and let us create your own work of art.
