The inspiration for this cathedral arched wood door came from Dunster Castle in England. The Luttrell family held the castle for 600 years before it was gifted to the National Trust. The Luttrell family began to expand the castle in the 15th century by adding a 3-story gatehouse. Improvements and additions continued through the centuries but much of the original castle still stands today. This 12th century castle and most of the village of Dunster are considered to be one of the best-preserved medieval sites in England.

Taking inspiration from the security of Dunster Castle with its ability to still be standing today, this door is a solid wood security grade door (as shown) is made of 4" thick cedar/cypress in a vertical plank design with a dungeon style portal window. The window has a hand forged wrought iron grill made by our master blacksmiths with 1" tempered glass to allow you to clearly see who is at the door without opening it first. Our master blacksmiths also hand forged the decorative hinge straps, the wrought iron door pull, and the custom-made door knocker.
