Master Blacksmithing, Genuine Turquoise, and Hand-Stretched Rawhide

Inspired by the buffalo hunt and its significance to Native peoples of the Great Plains, hand-cut iron silhouettes create a dynamic scene around the chandelier’s crown. A hand-stretched rawhide tepee rises above the composition, while a rawhide diffuser below casts a warm amber glow. Illuminated from above and below, the sculpture reveals layers of texture, movement, and shadow.

Its artistic presence commands attention even before the lights are turned on.

Shaped by Fire, Hammer, and Human Skill

Beginning with raw wrought iron, ArtFactory’s master blacksmiths use traditional forge, hammer, and anvil techniques to create the chandelier’s structure and expressive details. Twisted iron trim, arrow supports, buffalo-head adornments, and decorative connections are individually worked and assembled into one balanced composition.

Three iron arrows support the solid iron body beneath a patina advanced chain and hand forged decorative ceiling canopy. From the principal framework to the smallest detail, the craftsmanship serves both the strength of the fixture and the integrity of the art.

Genuine gemstone turquoise is hand inlaid into the ironwork, bringing natural mineral color and individual character to the design. Each stone contributes variations that make the finished composition unique.

The tepee and lower diffuser are crafted from genuine natural rawhide, stretched and fitted by hand of our leather smiths. Its grain, tone, and translucency become part of the artwork, softening the light into an inviting amber glow against the turquoise and textured iron.

ArtFactory’s hand-applied, heat-developed patina enriches the metal with depth and color while preserving the blacksmith’s hammer marks. Brown, red, black, and green patinas complement the natural materials and bring definition to the sculptural details.
