This custom Art Nouveau arched door is inspired by the famous doors that were built in and around Paris, France in the late 19th and early Twentieth centuries. Most importantly, all of our historically inspired doors are built in original craft. This is a design not only inspired by those historic doors, but is built using the same techniques and materials that would have been used by Jules Lavirotte, or any of the famous architects of this era. The historically inspired Art Nouveau arched door by ArtFactory.com is just one of many styles of Art Nouveau and Lavriotte inspired designs that we offer. It features the famous curves that that make Art Nouveau famous, and the elegance of a minimalist door design. The rounded corners of the recessed wood panels on the lower portion of each door blade provides the perfect touch to make this a truly, one-of-a-kind entrance. Like all of our custom solid wood doors, this Art Nouveau arched door is an original design by award winning artist H.J. Nick, and a certified work of world class fine art.
Our Art Nouveau arched door, and all of our custom doors are handmade by master craftsmen. These doors are not machine made, mass produced, of made using any kind of fast process. This means that your custom door will be built by the hands of our master craftsmen, and never exactly reproduced. All of our custom doors are built using the age old, tried and test method of mortise and tenon, pegged and doweled construction, which makes for a door that will stand the test of time. Furthermore, we use only the finest grade, of all natural materials, because fine art is never made with low quality wares, or faux wood. This makes for a unique, heirloom quality product that is built to investment standards with future antiquity value. This includes full length, naturally desert air dried, old growth timber; plus energy efficient, hand cut, dual pane glass panels, and blacksmith hand forged, solid, genuine wrought iron hardware. All of our handles and hardware, including the popular ball and twist doors pulls (pictured) are built by the hands of classically trained blacksmiths, using hammer and anvil over a coal fired forge. To top it all off, the tempered, dual pane, top lite window glass is hand cut by our master craftsmen to fit perfectly with curvature of the door.

This includes our hand applied, iron oxide patina finishes. Many societies, including the Egyptians and Mayans, as well as European royalty and aristocracy have created and passed down heirlooms for thousands of years.
In fact, if it were not for these artifacts, it would be impossible to know these people ever existed, and how they were important to history. This is also the case in the 21st century within your own family. No matter if it’s a simple, hope chest with your personal message or name as a gift to a loved one, or extravagant, fine art quality, master handcrafted, custom Art Nouveau arched door, these items will be important to the story of your family history long after we are gone.

Don't settle for cheaply made, mass production doors sold at big box retailers that will need to be replaced every few years.
Art Nouveau Arched Door Stain Finish Details
The meticulous finish has been done in age old technique, using a 23-step hand rubbed process. We begin with fine hand sanding, and infused open grain hand applied stains. That puts the finish in the wood not just sprayed on it. This allows for the fine natural wood grains to show to perfection. There are then 20 additional steps requiring the application of wax, oils and lacquers with curing times between each process. This method is performed on all furniture and door wood surfaces inside and out. This tried and tested finish detail is required in the making of a one-of-a-kind, family heirloom quality product that meets world class investment quality standards that will stand the test of time. This process is the only way with little maintenance and the simple process of cleaning with oil will allow for a beautiful natural patina that will make this door more beautiful over time.
It is our belief that our combination of top quality materials and master hand craftsmanship allow us to offer a quality of product that is unmatched anywhere, at any price. In fact, we are so confident in the quality of our products and craftsmanship that we guarantee everything forever. Most importantly, every product that we sell is manufactured in the USA, at our Scottsdale, Arizona factory. When we say made in the USA, we mean it, just as we have since 1913. Art Nouveau Doors Historical Information
Art Nouveau, also known as "New Art," was an influential art movement that emerged in the late 19th century and flourished until the early 20th century. It encompassed various forms of art, including architecture, interior design, decorative arts, and visual arts. Art Nouveau sought to break away from the academic and historical styles of the past and introduced a new aesthetic characterized by organic forms, flowing lines, and intricate designs.
Art Nouveau doors played a significant role in the movement's architectural expression. These doors were designed to be visually striking and serve as an entry point to buildings that embodied the spirit of Art Nouveau. The doorways became an opportunity for artists, architects, and craftsmen to showcase their skills and incorporate the movement's distinct motifs and ornamental elements. One of the defining characteristics of Art Nouveau doors is the emphasis on natural forms and curvilinear lines. Elaborate floral and plant motifs, such as vines, leaves, flowers, and seed pods, were commonly used in the door designs. These organic shapes were often intertwined, creating a sense of movement and rhythm. The flowing lines of Art Nouveau doors gave them a dynamic and harmonious appearance.
Another key feature of Art Nouveau doors was the incorporation of decorative elements and materials. The doors were adorned with intricate carvings, inlays, and metalwork. These embellishments added depth and texture to the doors, enhancing their visual appeal. Stained glass was also a popular feature, allowing for the interplay of light and color. The glass panels often depicted nature-inspired motifs or abstract patterns. Art Nouveau doors were not only visually captivating but also symbolized the movement's philosophy. They represented a rejection of mass-produced, machine-made goods and a return to craftsmanship and artistic expression. Artisans and architects collaborated closely to create unique and bespoke doors that reflected the individuality of the buildings they adorned.
Notable examples of Art Nouveau doors can be found in various cities across Europe, especially in places where the movement had a strong presence. Cities like Paris, Brussels, Vienna, and Barcelona are known for their impressive Art Nouveau architecture, including stunning doorways. The designs varied from simple residential entrances to grand entrances of public buildings, each displaying the distinctive characteristics of the Art Nouveau style. Although the Art Nouveau movement eventually gave way to newer artistic styles, its influence on door design and architecture remains significant. Art Nouveau doors continue to be appreciated for their beauty and craftsmanship, and many examples have been preserved as valuable historical artifacts. They serve as a testament to the innovative and decorative spirit of the Art Nouveau movement and its enduring impact on the world of art and design.
