Custom Art Nouveau Door – AD6638

Inspired by the legendary Jules Lavirotte and the celebrated entrance at 3 Square Rapp in Paris, this door captures the organic movement, asymmetry, and flowing iron artistry that defined the great Art Nouveau movement. But while the spirit is Parisian, the engineering is purely American — built stronger, heavier, and more secure than anything from the past century.

Description

Lavirotte Inspired. American Engineered. Built to Last Forever.

Jules Lavirotte and the celebrated entrance at 4 Square Rapp in Paris, this photos was taken of these 135yr old doors.

By H.J. Nick’s ArtFactory.com — Hand Built in America Since 1913

Recently completed and shipped from our American workshops, this custom Art Nouveau entrance represents the perfect union of sculptural beauty and uncompromising structural performance.

Crafted from Solid American Cypress Heartwood

This entrance is built entirely from solid American cedar/cypress heartwood — naturally durable, dimensionally stable, and resistant to moisture, insects, and decay. The richness of true heartwood enhances the sculptural carving and sweeping architectural lines of the design.

Each panel is hand-shaped and carved to create movement within the wood itself — no veneers, no laminates, no shortcuts. Built from the tree we naturally air cure to the finished masterpiece.

Hand-Forged Iron — True Blacksmith Work

The front gate to the entrance of the Jules Lavirotte building.

The flowing French-inspired grille and sculptural strap work are individually forged over a coal-fired forge by master blacksmiths using hammer and anvil.

  • Nothing is cast.
  • Nothing is stamped.
  • Nothing is ornamental-only.

Every iron element is solid wrought iron — structural, functional, and engineered to last generations. The curves of the iron move in harmony with the carved wood frame, creating a seamless integration of timber, iron, and glass.

The custom pull handle, hinges, and hardware are engineered specifically for this entrance system — built heavier, stronger, and more secure than standard architectural hardware.

High Security. Hurricane Engineered.

While the appearance is fine art, the structure is fortified. This entrance system is:

  • High-security engineered
  • Built to exceed three times Dade County Hurricane Code standards
  • Reinforced structural core construction
  • Impact-rated architectural glass system
  • Heavy-duty custom hinges and locking mechanisms
  • Designed for extreme wind load and coastal environments

This is not a decorative door — it is a secure architectural entrance system built for serious protection.

Beauty without strength is decoration. This entrance delivers both.

Built Using True Old-World Joinery And Finish Methods

Basic structure of a mortis and tenon joinery.

Every door is constructed using traditional mortise-and-tenon, pegged and doweled joinery — the same structural methods found in the world’s most enduring architecture.

  • No fast-process manufacturing.
  • No mass production.
  • No engineered shortcuts.

The result is an entrance built to last virtually forever with very little maintenance — designed to perform for generations.

A Century of Mastery —

Our Apprentice-to-Master Tradition

Every component — wood, iron, glass, and hardware — is designed, engineered, and built entirely in-house by American master craftsmen who have risen through our rigorous Apprentice-to-Master program — a living tradition we have preserved and refined since 1913.

For more than a century, knowledge has not been outsourced or rushed. It has been earned — one apprentice at a time — under the direct guidance of seasoned masters who pass down discipline, technique, and uncompromising standards.

This is not simply manufacturing. It is generational knowledge forged in fire, shaped by hand, and perfected through decades of dedication. Every entrance we build carries that lineage within it — the skill of the teacher, the pride of the apprentice, and the responsibility to create something worthy of lasting far beyond our own lifetime.

That is the ArtFactory difference.

A century of mastery — built into every piece to last forever.

Functional Sculpture

The dramatic upper sweep, signature Art Nouveau eye detail, sculpted lower relief panels, and flowing forged grille create an entrance that feels alive — rising and unfolding like wrought iron vines in motion.

  • It is not merely a door.
  • It is architectural fine art.
  • It is structural engineering.
  • It is heirloom craftsmanship.

The ArtFactory Standard

From raw timber selection to final finishing, everything is built under one roof in America — engineered for strength, designed for beauty, and constructed to investment-grade standards.

  • Built to withstand extreme environments.
  • Built with minimal maintenance.
  • Built to appreciate in legacy value.
  • Built to last for generations.
