Description
Where Two American Masters Come Together
Celebrating Freedom, the West, and America’s 250th Anniversary
Massive stone pillars support an elevated timber crossbeam carrying the name Wild Stallion Ranch. Above it, an eagle rises beneath a monumental American flag — symbols of courage, vigilance, strength, and liberty.
Below, monumental rustic wood gates provide the architectural foundation for the entrance’s defining work of art: a full-life-size solid carved horse based upon Lorenzo Ghiglieri’s original sculpture, The Wild Stallion.
A True Wood Original
The horse across the gates is not a generic emblem or simplified decorative casting. It is based directly upon Lorenzo Ghiglieri’s original sculpture.
The photographs of the original work reveal the detail that will be carried into the gate carving:
- The powerful turn of the neck
- The deeply modeled muscles and shoulders
- The expressive face and lifted forelegs
- The sweeping mane and tail
- The textured, hand-sculpted surface
- The strength and movement of the original pose
The gate carving is intended to preserve this same artistic character at full-life-size scale.
When the gates are closed, the horse reads as one complete bronze composition extending across both gate leaves. The rear hooves appear grounded upon the lower cross rail, while the body rises through the center of the entrance with energy and controlled power.
When the gates open, the wood carving separates with them — turning every arrival into a dramatic presentation of art, motion, and freedom.
This is not simply a horse placed upon a gate.
It is an original work of bronze art integrated into an original work of architecture.
An H.J. Nick Fortress Ranch Entrance
H.J. Nick designed the entrance with the rugged strength and permanence of the historic American ranch.
The gates are built primarily from substantial rustic timber, approximately four inches thick, with deep grain, knots, natural character, and a hand-worked surface. Simple wrought-iron edging reinforces the gates without hiding the beauty of the wood.
The raised crossbeam creates generous space above the gates and gives the entrance the scale of a western landmark. Stone towers stand like sentinels on either side, while the bronze horse becomes the commanding focal point at the center.
Every element has purpose. Timber represents permanence. Stone represents strength. The carving represents art that can endure for generations.
The Horse and the American West
No animal is more closely connected to western ranch life than the horse.
The horse carried pioneers across open country, worked cattle, crossed mountain ranges, and stood beside the men and women who built homes and communities far from established cities.
It represents strength, independence, loyalty, and freedom.
In Wild Stallion, that spirit is captured in solid wood and placed at the heart of the ranch entrance. The horse becomes a tribute to both the working history and the untamed beauty of the American West.
The Eagle, the Flag, and Freedom
Above the ranch name stands an American eagle beneath the waving United States flag.
The horse represents the spirit and endurance of the West.
The eagle represents courage and national strength.
The flag represents the liberty that allows Americans to own land, build businesses, create art, raise families, and pursue their dreams.
Together, these symbols form one unified American composition.
Two American Masters — One Complete Vision
H.J. Nick brings the architecture: monumental scale, timber construction, stonework, forged iron, structural balance, and the unmistakable strength of a fortress entrance.
One master shapes wood, stone, and iron. The other shapes life and in movement.
Together, their work becomes a single monumental entrance created by ArtFactory.com in celebration of American craftsmanship.
