The design is inspired by the 1860's French bed from Chapeau de Gendarme which featured this unique curved headboard shape based on the shape of a Bicorne Hat, which was a military style hat from that era.

It features three full extension drawers mounted on full extension, easy glide tracks. Each drawer is fitted with custom, hand forged solid iron hardware. The top is a solid, 3/4-inch thick granite slab.

A reaction to the academic art of the 19th century, it was inspired by natural forms and structures, particularly the curved lines of plants and flowers. English uses the French name Art Nouveau (new art).

The use of hyperbolas and parabolas in architecture became common in windows, arches, and doors, where decorative moldings gave the appearance of "growing" in a plant formation.
