Historical Origin And Design Inspiration
The Chateau de Foix is a castle which dominates the town of Foix in the French département of Arige. it is known as a centre of the Cathars.
Built on an older 10th century fortification, the castle is known from 987. In 1002, it was mentioned in the will of Roger I, Count of Carcassonne, who bequeathed the fortress to his youngest child, Bernard. In effect, the family ruling over the region were installed here which allowed them to control access to the upper Arige valley and to keep surveillance from this strategic point over the lower land, protected behind impregnable walls.

As Shown: Table Lamp, Color: P-500 Black (heavy brush) & P-510 Brown – 13″W X 6″D X 34″T – Shade 22″Dia. Features a patina finish, rawhide shade, solid iron hand forged spirals, solid iron base. solid iron base and anvil hammered curves, with a heavy walled central wire trace and standard socket. The shade as shown is made from genuine, hand stretched rawhide, and may be ordered in a wide variety of cloths or materials, such as oxidized and hand hammered copper if desired. The two-tone patina has been heat applied by hand at over 1000 degrees, creating a finish that will never fade, chip or crack and will actually beautify with age. UL listed.

Features a solid iron body of intricate curves rolling downward to support three down lights surrounded by a frame of hand hammered iron, patina finish, decorative glass, and decorative ceiling canopy. UL Listed.
Main Steel Structure: Hand forged, hammer struck to shape using a variety of solid steel materials. Main wire traces very from 1/4″ to 3/4″ heavy wall structural steel depending on the quantity of luminaries. For Chandeliers, the Main wire hide cap and mount is hand forged steel with chain through that allows for 900 pound test chain to mount directly to your structural beam. The wire hide is designed to mount to any standard electrical light receptacle includes two decorative mounting screws. This type of cap also allows for the use of a (customer supplied) chandelier remote winch that allows you to remotely raise and lower your chandelier for service and maintenance. All wall mount sconces and post mount lights will mount to any standard electrical receptacle.
