A Legacy of Valor: The Connection Between ArtFactory.com, H.J. Nick, and the Ghiglieri Family’s Patriotic Bronze Sculptures

At ArtFactory.com, our mission goes beyond creating handcrafted fine art and furnishings—we preserve and promote American values, freedom, and legacy through museum-quality craftsmanship. That legacy runs deep in the roots of founder H.J. Nick, and now proudly extends to our exclusive partnership with the Ghiglieri family, a dynasty of sculptors renowned for their patriotic bronze sculptures.

This is not just a collection—it’s a tribute to the American spirit.

Generations of Honor: Military Service & Family Sacrifice

Lt John McDermott “Jack” Quackenbush

Patriotism is in the DNA of the Hardas, Marabella, and Quackenbush families. H.J. Nick’s father served two tours in World War II; his brother fought in Vietnam. His wife Michelle’s family—the Quackenbushes—are among America’s earliest settlers, with over 300 years of history.

One of the most powerful stories in that lineage is that of Lt. Jack Quackenbush, a Harvard-educated officer aboard the USS Hornet during WWII. He served in the legendary Doolittle Raid, the first U.S. strike on Japanese soil following Pearl Harbor. Later that year, during the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands, the Hornet was hit by a Japanese dive-bomber. Lt. Quackenbush made the ultimate sacrifice at just 26 years old, giving his life on the ship’s bridge. His legacy lives on in both military history—and in Michelle Hardas’ leadership at ArtFactory.com as CFO and Chief of Quality Control.
Her commitment to excellence continues her grandfather’s legacy, transforming it into the realm of design and fine art.

Patriotism in Bronze: The Ghiglieri Legacy

For the first time in our history, ArtFactory.com is proudly showcasing and selling the work of artists outside our founder’s lineage.
Why? Because the Ghiglieri family shares the same generational values of patriotism, craftsmanship, and timeless artistry as well as attention to detail.

Lorenzo Ghiglieri 1931–2020

Lorenzo Ghiglieri (1931–2020) was a world-renowned American sculptor, known for his powerful bronze depictions of wildlife, warriors, and American symbolism. His sculptures are displayed in places of honor around the world—from the White House to the Vatican to the Kremlin.
His 24K solid gold eagle, resting on the Mark Russo-designed Constitution base, is not only one of President Donald J. Trump’s most prized art investments, but also a personal favorite in his private collection.

Lorenzo’s son, Laran Ghiglieri, carries the torch forward as a fourth-generation master artist. With works like Reflections of AmericaSpirit of America, and The Presidential American Patriot, Laran’s sculptures honor military heroes, American unity, and the warrior’s code of never leaving a man behind. His work is permanently installed in the U.S. House of Representatives and at the Oregon National Guard.

All Ghiglieri sculptures are cast at the Foundry Michelangelo in Battle Ground, Washington—widely considered the finest lost wax foundry in the world.

Where Art Meets Honor

The parallels between the Ghiglieri and Hardas-Quackenbush-Marabella family stories are uncanny. Both embody deep respect for those who serve. Both honor the idea that freedom is earned, not given. Both transform legacy into lasting works of beauty and significance.

That’s why H.J. Nick has chosen to display and represent the Ghiglieri family’s work—an unprecedented decision for ArtFactory.com.
This partnership is built not just on artistry, but on shared values and a common mission: to preserve and promote American excellence through timeless craftsmanship and common sense.
