Like all of our custom furnishings, this table base is hand forged from solid wrought iron. It features, French inspired decorative grapevine ironwork, and is perfect for your wine room. When we say hand forged, what we mean is hand hammered over a coal fired forge by classically trained blacksmiths. This means that each leaf is individually shaped so that no two are alike, just as would be seen in nature. Our wrought iron is never casted or drop forged, or made using any other type of fast process. In other words, our custom iron furniture is built to last forever. The patina color is added with a hand applied, heat infused, iron oxide patination process that bonds the color in the molecules of the iron. This makes for color that won’t peel, crack, or flake like powder coated or faux painted on finishes.

The meticulous finish on the solid wood table top has been done in age old technique, using a 23-step hand rubbed process. We begin with fine hand sanding, and infused open grain hand applied stains. That puts the finish in the wood not just sprayed on it. This allows for the fine natural wood grains to show to perfection. There are then 20 additional steps requiring the application of wax, oils and lacquers with curing times between each process. This method is performed on all furniture and door wood surfaces inside and out.
